This story song reminds us of how God chose David to be king, and that God can use you even if you are just a shepherd.
VERSE 1
A boy who loved the Lord was David,
As he watched the sheep he'd play his harp and sing.
If wild animals came near to harm them
Shepherd David used his trusty little sling.
VERSE 2
One day a man of God came walking,
Looking for the one who someday would be king,
The sons of Jesse passed before him,
But the Lord said "I have chosen none of these."
VERSE 3
"I have yet another son," said Jesse,
"As he watches sheep he'll play his harp and sing,"
When he came the man of God was happy,
For the Lord had chosen David to be king!
